Leave No Trace

Leave No Trace

"Leave No Trace" is a set of 7 ethical principles guiding anyone participating in outdoor activities. These principles promote one core goal: engaging in outdoor recreation responsibly. In other words, Leave No Trace teaches us how to ensure that when we leave an outdoor location, it remains as beautiful and intact as when we arrived—or even better.

Originating in the mid-20th century in the United States as a societal response to growing ecological concerns, the concept gained formal structure in 1994 with the founding of the non-profit Leave No Trace Center for Outdoor Ethics. The organization established the 7 Principles specifically for general outdoor activities and camping.

From the very beginning, Umove Adventure has supported and applied the Leave No Trace principles across all our outdoor programs and tours. Beyond educating our internal team on these outdoor ethics, we extend this commitment to local partners and suppliers through talks, training sessions, and mandatory standards in partner selection. Equally important, we actively influence our guests—the travelers who join Umove Adventure tours.

We firmly believe that when everyone contributes something positive to the environment, even through the simplest actions, we all benefit. Cleaner water sources, reduced impact from campfires on nature, minimal disturbance to wildlife habitats, and preservation of cultural and historical artifacts are just a few of the many advantages gained by respecting the "Leave No Trace" principles.

Here are the 7 Leave No Trace Principles:

  1. Plan Ahead and Prepare
  2. Travel and Camp on Durable Surfaces
  3. Dispose of Waste Properly
  4. Leave What You Find
  5. Minimize Campfire Impacts
  6. Respect Wildlife
  7. Be Considerate of Other Visitors
